Hello, we are Cler en Mariëtte Koole with our two daughters Lisane and Alice and Lisane's boyfriend Don. Of Dutch nationality, we have been living in France for more than twenty years.
Before that, Cler was a helmsman in commercial shipping and worked in the port of Rotterdam. Mariëtte was a nurse in Rotterdam.
During a holiday in the early nineties we landed at a campsite in the Ardèche. This campsite had just opened, which created a bond with the managers. A year later, we made a promotional video with our production company. And a few years later, we started working as seasonal workers to gain experience in the camping sector.
In 1998, after years of searching, we found this unique place in the Dordogne, on the top of a hill in Les Eyzies. The old campsite had been closed for years and the permission to operate had expired. What followed was a year and a half of battle to get the new permits and to be able to reopen the campsite.
In the meantime, we had opened the creperie-brewery restaurant Les Combarelles in the village of Les Eyzies. The ideal solution for living and working close to the campsite, while waiting to obtain the necessary permits. Moreover, it was a good way to gain even more experience in the restaurant business and to make ourselves known to the town hall as committed entrepreneurs.
In 2000, the long-awaited moment had come: the reopening of Camping le Pech Charmant.
It was also the year of the birth of Lisane, our eldest daughter. It was a year full of challenges, but so rewarding!
Three years later, our daughter Alice completed our family.
Our two daughters were born in France and grew up in the world of camping.
Now a new adventure has been created by buying a gite.
You are welcome to stay with us!
